Relaxed island charm with sea views...

Cassandra cottage is full of bohemian charm.

The cottage has a maze-like feel as the rooms are in unexpected places adding to the eccentricity and appeal of this delicious house.

The courtyard is arranged for four to dine with glimpses of the sea whilst remaining private with a traditional well in the center of the courtyard where water can be drawn to water the plants and clean off sandy feet.

Through one door off the courtyard you will reach the sitting room and second bedroom with two single beds.

The sitting room's double windows open to a wonderful sea view and stunning sunsets and there are plenty of books in a variety of languages to add to your relaxation.

The bedroom with two single beds lays through a seperate door and with an interesting and unexpected window!

Through another door from the courtyard there is the kitchen with a dining table for four.

Up a spiral staircase, you reach the cool inviting master bedroom with a double bed and two balconies with breath taking sea views. This room has air-conditioning.

The house is near to the sea (50m or so) along the coast from the harbour in Hydra, in a quiet village.

There are several tavernas within walking distance, as well as some good places to swim.

There are no sandy beaches here, but the water is deep and clear and very tempting!

When you imagine a perfect Greek island Hydra is it.

Narrow cobbled lanes to get lost in. Unexpected chic shops round corners. Quality locally served tavernas. Busy and quiet bars. Sea front cafes. Swimming in crystal clear waters. Goat tracks. Coastal walks. Deserted hills. Pine forests. Deserted bays. Hidden water sports facilities. Friendly locals.

Day trips to other islands: Spetses, Poros, Dokos, Aegina, Agistri. Sunshine, shade and old windmills.

But what gives Hydra it's unique feel is the strict building regulations which keeps everything in traditional harmony and the fact that the only mode of transport is donkey.

There are no roads and no cars or bikes. Everywhere is a short walk or, if you like, a donkey ride away. The traditional way of building and lack of motorised transport keep the pace of life on Hydra as it was 100 years ago, delightfully steady and gentle.

There is time to talk, time to smile, time to relax. On Hydra the world is still a beautiful place.

Hello Alex I just wanted to say how perfect our holiday in Hydra was and how lovely the cottage is. We had a wonderful time. I also thought that it might be a good idea to add a couple of things to your listing which might help gain interest. Firstly it would be good to say that the cottage is only 15 minutes walk from the main port. And perhaps to mention that it is in Kamini. We hope to go there again some time.
