A lovel two bed roomed house located on a working farm in the North of the Peloponnese.
The house is on two levels and will comfortably accommodate up to six people, sleeping two in the living room.
Beautifully presented, with great attention to detail, this property feels like a welcoming home, and not just another soulless holiday apartment.
There is a good sized kitchen / dining area with kitchenette, a large master bedroom with open fireplace (wood provided in the winter months) and a second bedroom and living room on the first floor.
The house is centrally heated for the winter, and keeps cool naturally in the summer.
At the front is a private terrace area overlooking a small children's play park, and guests have full use of the estate with its lake and animals.
Kernitsa is a small hamlet in the hills above the Gulf of Corinth, on the Northern coast of the Peloponnese.
Close to the ski resort of Kalavrita, yet only fifteen minutes from the nearest beach, this is a tranquil spot away from the tourist trail.
The house is situated in a working small holding and is a paradise for families with children. There are rabbits, sheep, a donkey, Penelope the cow and ducks that paddle on the lake.
The estate has just four cottages that are offered to rent and so will never feel crowded. Each has its own private area and each has been individually renovated in a quirky and eclectic style, with a strong traditional flavour and attention to detail.
There is a cafe on the premises offering excellent home cooking using, as far as possible, produce grown on the premises.
The property is managed by a charming energetic lady who delights in her guests' enjoyment.
Children will be invited to help feed the animals and milk the cow, and small children can ride on the donkey.
Everyone is welcome to swim in the lake!
Despite being set in the hills, access is easy, and a short drive will bring you to the coast where there is a choice of beaches, tavernas and shops.
Driving the other way, higher up into the mountains will take you to Kalavrita and the ski resort, meaning that this is a good base for winter as well as summer activities.
Other local attractions include the rack and pinion railway that runs through a gorge from Diakofto on the coast up to Kalavrita, and Mega Spilaio, the oldest monastery in Greece, perched on a the rocks just five minutes from Kernitsa.
There are lakes and caves with stalactite formations that you can visit nearby, as well as numerous traditional villages scattered around the area.
Being elevated, the estate is much greener than coastal parts of Greece, and there is water flowing all year round. In the summer months this is a welcome respite from the heat which can be oppressive in coastal areas.
An authentic Greek experience offering a little more...
