This house is a family holiday home where the family gathered together whenever they could do spend time together, eat and swim it simple surroundings.
The main room is the kitchen/living room which has 2 armchairs which fold out as beds.
There are windows on all sides but the one with the front door so there is lots of ventilation.
There is air-con in the kitchen which covers the living room and the two bedrooms have fans.
There is one twin room and one bedroom with a bed with a bed underneath which pulls out to a double bed. Two single beds can also be provided instead of the double bed.
The kitchen has a fridge/freezer, and an full cooker.
All rooms have a TV and there is a cd/radio.
The house will accommodate up to 6 people with 2 people in the living room.
There is a patio at the front of the house with a table and chairs as well at a build in bench in the corner.
If you wanted to rent the house for a longer period (2 months plus) then we can arrange for you to have Internet.
The house is located in a very quiet location opposite Hydra and 3km from Metochi and Porto Hydra in the other direction. This means that you have the peace of the little hamlet but you can go to busier places closeby if you feel like being in a livlier environment. The hotel there organises events every Saturday.
The hamlet faces Hydra accros the channel and is very close to Hydra. From Metochi there are deptartures on the every couple of hours on the 'Freedom_ boats at 6.50 euros each way (as of May 2012). Hydra Town is built on a hill and snakes all around the harbour in a semi circle. There are not cars or motorised vehicles and most things are carried by mule.There are lots of cafes around the port and seafront as well as some tavrnas. Explore the terraced lanes and discovery little squares, a little lane with cactuses and lots more lovely restaurants, cafes, boutiques and local shops too.
The hamlet of Pigadia (also known as Sabariza) has two tavernas and a beach. There is very little traffic but you will need a car to stay there as there is no public transport. At a pinch you could get to the house by arriving by hydrofoil at Ermioni and getting a taxi and then by ordering food to be delivered from the next village but you will be isolated. A taxi to Ermioni in May 2012 was about 25 euros.
There is a sandy beach which is more than a kilometre long 7 km away which is worth visiting and is not very busy. It is on the other side of Metochi.
Porto Heli is about 20km away and takes about 30 minutes by car. From there you can got to Spetses or by water taxi from Kosta which is nearby.
In the other directions is Galatas and Poros which is about 35 euros away.
The drive from Athens can be done on the sea road or the inland road (once you get to the Peloponnese). Places of interest like Nafplion are 1.30 hours away, Mycenae is 2 hours, Epidavros, 1 hour and Ancient Epidavros about 2 hours or a bit less.
If you want to splash out, an excursion can be arranged from a nearby jetty by boat to take you around Dokos island for example.
