The Cabin has a large (15 sq m) balcony with lovely views of the Sauerland mountains and forests. A large awning offers protection from the sun in the balcony, making it a great area for relaxing throughout the year. There is a large rattan dining table and four comfy chairs in the balcony for use of the guests. Two sets of trekking (nordic walking) poles, a wooden sleigh in full working order, two mountain bikes and 4 pairs of cross-country skis (Nordic norm 3 pin binding) are permanently available at the property at no extra charge. The balcony offers space to grill and dine al fresco. For grilling in the forest area of Holzhausen, please contact Mr. Blank Werner, Tel: 06452 / 8379. A kettle, toaster, electric grill for use in the balcony, fondue set and a milk heater are available at the Cabin. Please note that there is no tv connectivity or phone line at Die Kabine. However a TV set is available and we offer a selection of videos and DVDs in several languages.

Holzhausen is on the Eastern edge of the Rothaargebirge Nature Park. Skiing, snowboarding, tobogganing, bobsleigh (both summer and winter), cross country skiing, nordic walking, mountain biking, cycling and motorcycling, gliding, horse riding, swimming, fishing, hunting and relaxing!. The Sauerland is well known for its mature forests and well developed and accessible network of cyling and walking paths suiting all levels of ability. The property benefits from access to many of these paths within metres. Close to the property there is also a very pleasant cycle path along the banks of the river Eder (following an old railway line), which is suitable for all ages. The property is located 30km south of Winterberg, the largest European ski resort north of the Alps. Local slopes are closer, the nearest about 12 km away (which also operates one of its lifts in the summer for a childrens' bob run).

I spent the last days of the year in this lovely chalet and I can say it was a wonderful experience an the chance to enjoy the holidays in a natural and healthy way!!!!! It was really amazing a stay very warm at home while I watched the snow across the windows!!! Of course I enjoyed a lot walking around and skiing some days very near to the chalet!!!!! Notes on the Rental Rates

The property is managed by a local resident who will ensure Die Kabine is clean and ready for your arrival. The final clean and the hire of all linen, including bedclothes, towels and kitchen towels is charged at an additional cost of 45 euros per stay (for up to 2 people) after that, an additional charge of 5 euros is applicable for every additional person. Please, note that WE DO NOT CHARGE any extra costs for pets, electricity or gas. The property is about 5 hours' drive from Calais on a very direct, fast motorway, toll-free route.

Die Kabine (The Cabin) is normally rented on a weekly basis, from Saturday to Saturday although we are flexible and if you require arrival on an alternative day, we will do our best to accommodate you without incurring any extra charges.
