The apartment is situated in an upmarket private holiday complex in a quiet area called Matagorda and nearby to the much busier main resort of Puerto del Carmen. There are stunning views across the island and out to sea from the complex, due to its elevated position. It is close to the sea front and also to supermarkets, shops and restaurants.
Particularly good quality comfortable accommodation with a good sized bedroom with a new king size bed, large bathroom with double walk-in shower, dining table and chairs and an attractive lounge area with sofa and coffee table. There is a flat screen TV with satelite TV* including BBC1, BBC2, ITV free to our guests. There is a kitchen-dining area area with a variety of mod cons.
(NB There is a double comfortable sofa bed in the lounge offering the opportunity to sleep additional adults or one/two children.)
There is unlimited wireless connection in the apartment for anyone wishing to take their laptop on holiday to keep in touch. This is also free to our visitors*.
The complex is gated, has a large reception area and attractively shaped solar-heated pools including one for children. The vast Matagorda beaches and sea are a few minutes walk away.
There are spacious areas for sunbathing and relaxing and a plentiful supply of complimentary sunbeds around the patio and pool areas. The apartment has two terraces allowing you to extend your living accommodation even further.
This apartment is near the pool - set slightly to one side providing a little privacy from the pool 'action' and a little peace if you are sitting on one of the the apartment’s patios having a quiet drink! An envious position indeed and chosen deliberately by the owners for its superb position.
The patio of the property faces south, meaning that from late morning until the sun goes down, it is sunny, sunny, sunny!
Great for the day time and really important if you want to extend your day by winding-down with a drink on the patio during the early evening hours.
In addition to the main accommodation there is an extended patio area at the front, belonging to the property, bordered by a small pretty low-walled garden.
The apartment's patio area has table and chairs for you to spend as much time as possible enjoying the outside atmosphere. It overlooks garden areas of the main complex which are planted with tropical trees and plants and even a lemon tree.
The complex is very well maintained. This is reflected by active management to ensure a high quality environment at all times.
Nearby you will find bus stops and a taxi rank. Supermarkets and shops are a few minutes walk, as is the beach.
You do not need a car to stay at this resort, however, having a car would enable you to see more of the island.
When arriving at the airport, Matagorda is the nearest resort and the cheapest to reach by taxi. Within no time at all you will be settled into your holiday home for the duration of your holiday and sitting on the patio with a glass of something!
There are lots of bars and restaurants local to the complex. A few minutes walk will take you to a tourist-designed area with restaurants, shops, supermarkets, bars etc, too many to list.
Walking a little further, will take you to a further selection of restaurants and bars right on the sea front, overlooking the Matagorda beach.
This area of the resort is also the quietest. No nightclubs on your doorstep here!
For a few Euros, you can hop in a taxi towards the lively resort of Puerto del Carmen. This is the main resort area where there are literally dozens and dozens of cocktail bars, restaurants, night clubs and snack bars for you to try out. There are also numerous shops selling almost anything you can think of.
Or, you could drive (f you hire a car) or get a cab to Puerto Calero, the next resort on from Puerto del Carmen. This is a very upmarket resort and marina area, which has designer shopping areas (Ralph Lauren, DKNY, Armani etc) stylish restaurants and beautiful boats for you to watch whilst fine dining. An experience you should not miss!

Matagorda is becoming one of the most popular areas along the Lanzarote coastline.
Our apartment is situated on a private gated complex in the resort area called Matagorda. This is near to Puerto del Carmen. Matagorda is an upmarket tourist area and is the closest resort to the airport. It is currently enjoying a great deal of popularity. Possibly also because of it’s proximity to the main resort of Puerto del Carmen – which is just a ten-minute stroll away along a very smart sea front and the fact that it is generally a quieter area. This means that visitors who opt for staying in the quieter environs of Matagorda, a former fishing village, can easily access the more boisterous entertainment and nightlife of Puerto del Carmen. Visitors are usually couples of all ages and families.
The area of Matagorda has developed an identity of it’s own and in fact has become a resort of its own. There are vast beautiful beaches to walk along, or sunbathe with sunbeds and parasols being readily available to hire on the beach at a reasonable cost.
It offers plenty of tourist bars and restaurants, as well as shopping facilities where you can find everything from designer wear, jewellery, supermarkets and tourist gifts. It also boasts a central commercial centre for tourists with a fair choice of restaurants, gift shops, a diving school and two supermarkets. A few minutes walk, turning right along the prom brings you to more restaurants and bars overlooking the beach and sea. Perfect for day or evening relaxation!
In general the area is ideal for those seeking a peaceful holiday without too many bright lights on the doorstep! The area of Matagorda is more suited to couples and families. However, the lively main resort of Puerto del Carmen is only a few Euros away in a taxi ride so you could easily have the best of both worlds if you stay in Matagorda.
Beaches:
The beaches are fabulous. A huge sweeping very clean beach provides a sense of space and calm. Sun beds, umbrellas and loungers are available to hire by the sea, and there is plenty of room to do your own thing if you wish.
Matagorda has a gently sloping beach of fine, dark golden sand, particularly popular for windsurfing. There is a wide promenade which has recently been replaced so it looks new and fresh, lovely to stroll along in the evening or daytime.
Shopping:
Lanzarote and the rest of the Canary Islands enjoy a special duty-free tax status. Cigarettes, alcohol, perfumes and petrol are much cheaper than in mainland Spain and the rest of the EU.
Matagorda has a two-storey shopping centre containing a supermarket, restaurants and souvenir and other stores. For a real shopping spree holidaymakers prefer to descend on neighbouring Puerto del Carmen, which is bristling with a variety for shops from duty-free electrical stores and designer boutiques to stalls selling 'tourist bits and pieces' along the main strip.
Restaurants:
Most of Matagorda's restaurants attract tourists and are situated in the central commercial area around a square, where diners can browse the displayed menus before making their choice of cuisine for the evening. The choice is wide, ranging from Chinese and Greek to British, Irish and Japanese, with the usual pizza, pasta and grill houses thrown in.
Those who want a more extended choice or a livelier dining scene can simply take a walk or taxi ride to explore the offerings of larger Puerto del Carmen.
