Built in 1878, this graceful traditional two storey Santorini Mansion is located in the heart of the
picturesque village of Megalochori. At the turn of the century the first floor would have been
occupied by the family with the ground floor serving as the winery and cellar.
The wineries and cellars would have been specifically built to keep a cool steady temperature.
The original structure has been sensitively renovated, and has been restored to its original splendour, retaining the original layout and traditional features. The Mansion consists of two spacious self-contained units with a private pool and is tastefully decorated with fine antique pieces of furniture.
You approached the mansion from the village square by a winding footpath. Enter into the large cobbled
private courtyard, complete with pool. A stone stairway leads you to the first floor with large terraces
and panoramic views of the village.
The first floor consists of a traditional styled kitchen, well equipped with modern appliances, which
leads into the large dining room. The original wooden floors and vaulted ceiling add warmth and
character to the interior and is perfect for entertaining. A comfortable lounge adjoins the dining
area. The spacious master bedroom is comfortable, bright and airy. A carved stone staircase leads
to a private landing and second large double bedroom. An attractive bathroom with wood and
stone features services both rooms.
The ground floor once served as the 'canava' - wine cellar and workshop - of the Mansion. Carved
into the rock face every aspect of this Mansion is unique with heaps of character. The cylindrical
troughs sunk into the ground, once used for distilling the visanto, provides unusual lighting features to
the interior.
Three large barn-style doors lead from the cobbled courtyard into the various living areas. The smooth-edged carved interior provides a cool and relaxing haven during the hot summer days.
The well equipped traditional-style central kitchen leads into the beautifully lit dining room, perfect for leisurely meals with friends and family. Arched doorways on either side of the kitchen
allows for an easy flow through the house.
The comfortable lounge is well appointed and spacious. On the opposite end of the canava is a spacious sleeping area allows for two double bedrooms with a shared seating and dressing area.
The shared extravagant bathroom has a large shower, seating area and large vanity. A few steps away from the attractive pool you will find a separate spacious double room with en-suite shower room.
Large families or a group of friends that may require two independent properties will find this the perfect solution without compromising privacy and comfort.
This Mansion can accommodate up to 10 guests.

Santorini is simply Spectacular.
Sailing into the flooded caldera and being greeted by dizzying cliffs with dazzling white villages plastered like dollops of cream on the sky-hugging rim will take your breath away.
Santorini is a volcano with the central caldera being submerged in the sea leaving a ring of three islands looking at each other, islands that have been cut in half leaving fantastic sheer cliffs dropping into the sea.
It is an island of extraordinary contrasts, Santorini can be both breathtakingly beautiful and quietly peaceful and lost in time.
The extremes of the sheer cliffs of red and black are so spectacular that you can feel almost intimidated by there size contrast with the peace and calm of the inner islands timeless appeal.
On Santorini all the house are built in a traditional style giving the affect of an island of white cube houses and blue dome churches tumble attractively down the cliff faces. A feeling that Santorini has remained unchanged for centuries.
Santorini is widely noted for it's absolutely awesome sunsets. The difting volcanic fumes are supposed to be responsible for the intencity of some the evening skies for which, in Thira town, restaurant vie for position so to allow the spectical to accompany your evening meal.
The visitor is well catered for in the center of the major towns with many very good restaurants and interesting shops to tempt you. The narrow streets of the Thira create a time lost cozy feel to the town and make exploring an adventure.
Inland the fields of grapes are dotted with churches and traditional houses with many attractions to explore, very well preserved traditional villages, wineries, underground art gallery.
One of the villages you may like to visit is Imerovigli. It is built in a privileged location, the highest spot of caldera, in a 300m height between Fira and Oia.
This graphic settlement is considered conserved and it’s ideal for romantic walks. The houses built according to the traditional architecture of Cyclades islands and the dreamy view from the village leaves no one untouched.
In Imerovigli you will see the remains of the Enetic castle "Skaros" built by Marcus Sanoudos, used as a winepress during the Venetian rule. The path from Skaros leads to the small church of Theoskepasti that has a spectacular view to the volcanic islands Palea and Nea Kameni.
There are suprizing and interesting places to discover on all corners of Santorini and when you have exhausted youself slip down to the black sand beaches, which hold the heat, relaxing you and allowing you to drift off into the warmth.
And just one last word, from my experience of visiting island in Greece I have found the people of Santroini to be the warmest, most genuine, most sincere, friendly islanders I have had the pleasure of meeting and that alone makes me want to revisite the island again and again.
Easyjet fly direct to Santoini in season from London or Milan.
