This is a beautiful stone house right above the port of Hydra, with great views, offering very comfortable accommodation for up to seven people.

The hand-hewn stone wall surrounding the property encloses the main house, a guesthouse, and a series of courtyards and terraces.

With three bedrooms and two and a half baths, the Stone House comfortably sleeps seven. Decorated with original artwork and carefully furnished with antiques and cozy chairs, the home is perfect for a couple's romantic getaway or a family's summer holidays.

The main house contains a living room, dining room, kitchen, master bedroom and bath, and guest bedroom and bath. The house is equipped with all the implements for entertaining - and both the indoor and outdoor dining tables seat 8-10.

The grand master bedroom boasts exquisite views in all directions: open sea, the cascade of island homes, and the majestic peaks of the mountains surrounding Hydra town. This sweeping room of fabulous high-ceilinged proportions also contains a writing desk, reading chairs, and a completely renovated en suite bathroom, including a bathtub. A private balcony hangs in the sky, perfect for sipping an evening glass of wine.

The charming guesthouse contains a gem of a room. Dive into the queen-sized brass bed, and if it happens to be chilly during your stay, light a fire in the beautiful corner fireplace. This free-standing suite has a 1/2 bath just steps away.The Stone House boasts spectacular one-of-a-kind views that span the sea, the port, and the inland mountains. The house is wonderfully central to many of Hydra's delights. A short walk down one set of the island's many cobblestone staircases places you in the heart of the port. Likewise, a gentle meander through a pine grove brings you to the town's swimming rocks.

Some of the comforts of the Stone House include: wireless Internet access (bring your laptop), Bose iPod speaker dock, a furnished kitchen, washer and dryer, three fireplaces, and weekly maid service.

Hydra town is busier than Vlichos and has excellent boutique shopping, cafes and tavernas, and little cobbled lanes to get lost in amongst the whitewashed houses.

There's a watersports center on the beach, and some nightlife, although this is not a party island like Mykonos etc!

From Hydra it's easy to get to the nearby islands of Spetses and Poros, and to the Peloponnese and some of the best known archaeological sites in Greece.

Hydra is great for walking - much of the island is uninhabited and you can follow rough tracks up to the monastery at the top of the island.

There is also a diving school and several art galleries - Hydra is popular with artists.

The lack of cars on the island gives it a romantic, relaxed feel, and children are safe here. You won't be disturbed by pesky mopeds.

Donkeys and cats abound, however!

private island and house for our honeymoon. We enjoyed coffee in the cafes looking over the harbor, delicious Greek food in quaint restaurants (with clean kitchens—we were invited to see them all!), long walks with breath-taking views, refreshing swims, sunbathing on the rocks, meandering around town, and stunning sunsets from the terrace and the road winding along the cliffs. It is hard to describe the peace that envelops the Stone House. The master bedroom is a great retreat for naps in the afternoon and late night stargazing with the distant sound of harbor nightlife. Notes on the Rental Rates

We require a deposit of 20% via PayPal in order to secure the booking. Half of the balance is due at the time of booking, and the remainder 60 days before your arrival, by bank transfer.

These prices include utilities (water and electricity), weekly maid service, and basic kitchen provisions provided at the time of arrival. Upon request, we are happy to furnish our guests with additional grocery items, or arrange for more frequent housekeeping, for a fee.
